Work of the Lord Print E-mail
Transforming the Curriculum

By Paul Stevens at Regent College

I found this video very helpful in expressing the importance of seeing every kind of work as "ministry." It was featured in the newsletter from Christian Overman, Worldview Matters, December 11, 2009

Do Christian schools make students more religious? Print E-mail
missional Christian education
"Do Christian schools make students more religious?" is a report by Tobin Grant in Christianity Today about a study of students in US Christian schools. The conclusions are thought-provoking, but they may not have measured the wrong thing.

Anyone hear a trumpet? Print E-mail

I was challenged by some questions posed in an article published in the December 2008 edition of eg by The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity. "In the aftermath of the credit crunch, Mark Greene wonders what lessons we will have to learn about transforming our society and the organisations we engage with."

Missional defined Print E-mail
missional Christian education

In "Missional vs. Evangelical," S. Michael Craven asked,

What does it mean to be “missional”? Missional means: to participate in the mission of Jesus in the world, to incarnate in the experiences of our lives and our communities the good news of God’s love for the world.

Would Christmas have occurred if humanity had not sinned? Print E-mail
Transforming the Curriculum
I discovered an interesting article by Philip Yancy that describes the debate between Thomas Aquinas and John Duns Scotus about this question. It can be dismissed as idle speculation, but it has a lot to do with our perception of Jesus Christ's present role in the universe and ours as His body, His bride, His ambassadors. It can make a huge difference in how we approach the study His creation.

Subject area big picture Print E-mail
Transforming the Curriculum
Making sense of any idea is always easier if you know where it fits in the big picture. Knowing where the subject you teach fits in the big picture of God’s purposes and activities, can help you see the connections between your lesson content and God and His word. Helping your students see things from a Biblical perspective becomes an exciting possibility instead of a dreaded responsibility.

CSM - missional Christian school Print E-mail
missional Christian education
What do you call a school started by Christians, using Christian curriculum materials, and known as being based on a Biblical, Christian foundation that has Muslim teachers? ...a missional Christian school! It certainly isn't a "normal" Christian school.

What is missional Christian education? Print E-mail
missional Christian education

Missional Christian education (mCe) is our intentional involvement in what God is doing to draw people to Himself through education. We created the term in 2005 to describe some unique situations that demanded our response. Our definition came a bit later as we reflected on what is happening.
